Invitation - graphite ideas

Please feel free to draw anything that interests you, – if you have the colored pencils, enjoy! But, – I always love to invite you to take some time to sketch and use graphite. I’m sharing some ideas in this blog, – you can use them or find your own.

Here are some good questions to keep in mind as you are sketching –

• poise yourself to see the overall picture.

• start to measure if your drawing needs that.

• look at the relationships carefully.

• see how it feels on the paper – a good drawing is a good design and a good design is a good drawing.

• remember how important values are.

• look for lights, darks, mid tones, shadow, cast shadow, reflective light.

• and last one… line. Keep it sensitive. This is a great time to practice this.
